What can our kids learn from a 500 kg animal?
Many studies reap the benefits associated with utilizing horses as a learning aid for young people – particularly teenagers. Our equine-assisted learning program can teach our children with unique techniques that aren’t possible within a typical classroom setting. Those who have the opportunity to partake in our courses will gain a better understanding of their own behaviour and learn vital skills to help them take on any challenge.

Young people who partake in our course will gain basic knowledge of how a horse behaves – understanding and being able to differentiate between a horses potentially threatening nature and their calm, assertive nature and why the two are important. The aim of teaching our children these different behaviours of horses allows them to understand how modifying their own behaviour in certain situations can improve or worsen the outcome.
The skillsets learnt and developed at Connecting Moments will remain with our attendees for the rest of their lives. Working with horses provides our younger generations experiences that are undeniably different to those in a typical school setting, creating lasting memories and lessons that will influence their future decision making.

Our courses can teach your children to stand up to those who bully!
Our equine assisted learning programmes have been proven to help children who display socially isolating behaviours that often occur as a result of bullying. Such situations that exclude and isolate children can often result in poor communication skills and a lack of social skills. Our courses can help improve communication skills, all areas of aurora: emotional, physical, mental and emotional wellbeing, and encourages sensory stimulation and integration.
Many children bully others to relieve themselves of the aggression they hold internally. This often occurs when a child has been overlooked in their home environment, they may have neurological disabilities that have not been diagnosed or have been misdiagnosed, or they may have suffered abuse themselves. A child who bullies is not a bad person, but an indication that they too are struggling with understanding or implementing appropriate and positive behaviours. Our courses can help children who exhibit aggressive behaviour as we provide the environment to learn the importance of effective communication, leadership skills, choice-making skills and goal setting skills while encouraging the development of one’s personal responsibility and creativity.
For these reasons, our programmes are beneficial for both the victim of bullying and the bully themselves.
It has been proven that when more senses are engaged during the learning process, it is likely that the individual will retain more of what they have learnt. This means that an increase in opportunity to be actively involved while learning new skills, more senses will also be actively involved and therefore will result in our attendees showing an increased ability to learn, retain and apply the skillsets they learn through our courses.
Our courses make use of custom designed exercises that maximise overall learning potential and experiences through a hands on learning approach that will challenge existing group dynamics, forming and refining individual skills.
Our alternative approach to education attempts to involve the student in experiences that are relevant to his/her future by providing opportunities and support systems to learn from these experiences.
Our students have the ability to learn and develop self-reliance, self-confidence, and increased self-esteem. Three highly sought after qualities that will help your child succeed throughout their life.
